I've ordered from Joe's Burgers on three different occasions now and have decided it's time to leave a review. My favorite has to be the Cowboy Burger. This burger has fried onion rings and BBQ sauce with a patty in the middle. Reminds me of the Western Burger from Carl's Jr. although the prices are definitely far from that of a fast food joint.

In fact, the burger prices here are on the higher end. On my last Postmates order, two burgers and a cheese fries set me back $30 (before tip and delivery). They do give a pretty healthy serving of fries for the price though! My friend had mentioned that Happy Hour is the way to go for Joe's. I'll be sure to check that out next time I'm craving burgers and report back.

For a few years I have been hesitant to try Joe's.  The original location by Pioneer Square Mall never sounded appealing and many people I knew told me to stay away.  Then a couple of friends started raving to me about the Portland State University location and how their happy hour is actually worth checking out.  Eventually I caved in and I am glad that I did.

Their happy hour runs from 2-5 PM daily.  For the very generous prices they offer, it is worth checking out despite it ends at 5 and not later.  Micro pints are only $3 which is an amazing deal these days.   The selection is amazing and I enjoyed a couple pints of IPA vortex from Fort George.  The corn dog is simple and a great snack to have.  For those seeking a heartier appetite, the burger and fries combo is worth going for.  At no extra charge, tots can be substituted for fries.

Service is prompt and friendly.  Food always arrived hot and fresh.  I enjoyed it so much I went back a week later with a couple of friends.  They had a Widmer Hefeweisen special at only $2 a pint that lasted all day.  That definitely reminded me of "Old Portland" prices.  The prices on the regular menu can be a tad high for what you get.  Happy hour is definitely the best deal and worth going!

This place is gross. The last time i was there, a guy with a big beard (not wearing a hairnet on his beard) was making my food. I have worked at meals on wheels and I know that every piece of hair is supposed to be covered.

I've been sampling several places around PSU to see where a good, cheap lunch spot is, since I am now a student. I'm disappointed by the majority of options near campus; many of the options offer subpar food at higher prices. It's safe to assume this is to capitalize on all the students needing nourishment, but regardless, I've been bringing my lunch more often than eating out (probably good to save money too).

Joe's Burgers, though, I was satisfied with. I ordered a Cowboy Joe with an order of chili cheese fries, and it was a solid meal for eleven dollars. The burger by itself is $7.25, and while a tad more expensive than I thought it should be, was still delicious. It reminds me of the Western Bacon cheeseburger from Carl's Jr, but made with Oregon raised beef. It has beef, cheese, onion rings, bacon and barbecue sauce. The chili cheese fries have a nice chili sauce that's not overly chunky, and doesn't taste like it came from a can. The fries had a great consistency, offering a nice crisp crunch to them, but were overly salty.

There is a happy hour with great drink prices and food specials, so I'll be back to give it a try. Service was friendly, the restaurant is clean and very conveniently located near PSU.

Located near Tartberry and Einstein Bagels. I pass by this place a lot, so I thought I'd try out the food since I'd been craving a burger and fries for some time now. The interior looked fairly neat
, but I must say that the vibe I got from some of the employees was off-putting. If you get your food to go, it comes in a neat little box. Other than that, nothing really stood out in either a positive or negative way.

    Notes--
The flavor add-ins on the soda machine didn't seem to be in working condition.

    Order:
Black and Blue with Veggie Burger(7.75 + 1.25)--
Comes with blue cheese, bacon, onion rings on the inside, lettuce, tomatoes and a sauce. I am big on the texture of my bread, so I really liked the type of buns they used. The veggies also tasted pretty fresh. Unfortunately, the veggie patty was flavorless, but the rest of the ingredients picked up the slack. I believe it would've tasted better with a chicken patty in its place.

    Fries(3.00)--
While not terrible, I would honestly rate the taste of McDonald's fries far higher than I would these. Had a "fried in old grease" taste.

    Service:
Fine. Nothing really bad to say, but nothing great either.

    Wait time:
    6-7 minutes.

    Bill:
    $$
